ISP Support Services
The founders and operators of Solid.net are technical people. We
are not MBAs or folks looking for a quick dollar. (Although at times it
would have been nice if we had made a few more dollars.) Our goal over the
years has been to have a reliable set of servers for us and our customers.
Because of our attention to detail and our personal knowledge bases, we
have done a very good job.
We also do support services for other ISPs. We are not willing to do
work for any company who directly competes with our current customers.
A few of the unique things that you might find interesting that our
founders have done over the years are
- Before the days of the Internet, wrote and maintained a time sharing
operating system (and many of its main utilities) that the state of
Oregon used for its University campuses.
- Also before the Internet, operated a large FidoNet technology
BBS.
- Wrote some of the ARPA Net code to link sites together.
- Did development work on the predecessor product to what is now called
the cable modem.
- Implemented a wireless hot spot access system.
We can do anything from just configuring sendmail or apache for you,
to writing modules to solve unique problems, to being involved in a
continuing basis in the operation of your ISP.
It's easy for a small net based company to be a virtual company. We have
personal in both the Pacific NorthWest and the San Francisco bay area.
